SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (RENTALS)
The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. This is a federally funded program that enables eligible families to locate housing anywhere in the private market of Lee County. Families assisted are issued a Voucher to locate housing within 60 days with a private landlord. Landlords must:

• Have units that are decent, safe, and sanitary in order to pass inspection.
• Have units that are reasonable and comparable to the unassisted market.
• Be willing to sign a 1-year contract with the CRA and enter into a lease with the tenant.

Families pay a small percentage of the rent according to their income and the Payment Standard. Families can also use the Portability feature of the Voucher to transfer their Section 8 to another PHA.
